The Massachusetts Union Membership for Employment Act, also known as Question 5, was on the November 2, 1948 ballot in Massachusetts as an indirect initiated state statute, where it was defeated. The measure regarded the membership or nonmembership in labor organizations as a precondition of receiving employment.[1]
