The Massachusetts Mandatory Seat Belts Act, also known as Question 5, was on the November 4, 1986 ballot in Massachusetts as a veto referendum, where it was defeated, thus overturning the legislation. The measure would have required the use of seat belts in motor vehicles.[1]
