Matthew Klein is a Republican member of the North Dakota House of Representatives, representing the 40th District since 1992.

Klein is an engineering consultant. His professional experience also includes the United States Air Force.

Klein attended Amarillo Junior College and Ellendale College; earned his BSEE from North Dakota State University; and did graduate work at University of Southern California and University of California, Los Angeles.

Klein and his wife, Isabell, have six children.[1]

2012

Klein ran in the 2012 election for North Dakota House District 40. Klein and fellow incumbent Robert Frantsvog were nominated by write-in during the Republican primary on June 12. They defeated Sue Olafson and Louis Pinkerton in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2]

Note: As of April 24, no Republican candidates had qualified for the ballot in District 40. Incumbents Klein and Frantsvog did not file the proper paperwork before the filing deadline. Ultimately, Klein and Frantsvog earned the Republican nomination by each receiving at least 143 write-in votes in the June 12 primary.[3][4]
