A McCloud community services district parcel tax, Measure T ballot proposition was on the November 4, 2008 ballot in Siskiyou County for voters in the McCloud Community Services District. It was approved.

Measure T is a parcel tax authorization measure at varying rates depending upon the classification of each parcel of real property subject to the special tax. There are six classification categories. The basic idea is to charge $152.98 per Housing Equivalent (HE).

In 1997, voters of the district had approved a parcel tax of $64.32 per parcel with multiples of the $64.32 tax rate charged for multi-family residential and commercial properties to fund fire and ambulance services. In recent years, the fire department, emergency response and ambulance services had been running at a budget deficit of around $33,800/year.

  • Yes: 435 (76.7%) -- Measure T, as a parcel tax, required a vote of 66.67% or more to pass.
  • No: 132 (23.3%)

The language on the ballot said:

Shall the McCloud Community Services District levy a new special parcel tax to replace the existing special tax enacted by the voters on June 3, 1997 commencing in fiscal year 2009-2010 to provide fire protection, emergency response and ambulance services at the rates and for the land use categories specified in Resolution 05, 2008?
