A Merced Union High School bond election, Measure M appeared on the November 4, 2008 ballot in Merced County, California for voters in the Merced Union high school district where it was approved.

To pass, it needed a supermajority vote of 55% of those voting in the election.

Measure M authorized a $149,450,000 bond.

  • Yes: 25,266 votes, or 62.58%
  • No: 15,111 votes, or 37.42%

The text of Measure M was:

Merced Union High School District Improvement Measure. To improve the quality of education and high school safety, shall Merced Union High School District expand vocational/job-training facilities, upgrade educational technology, add class rooms/facilities and construct a new school to relieve overcrowding/growth, replace aging portables with permanent classrooms, and improve/acquire/construct school classrooms, joint-use/facilities, sites and equipment, by issuing $149,450,000 of bonds at legal rates, qualifying for State matching funds, with independent oversight, no money for administrator salaries, and all funds benefiting local high school?”
