Merrill Township Road Levy Renewal (August 2012)

A Merrill Township Road Levy Renewal measure was on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the township of Merrill, which is in Newaygo County.

This measure seeks to renew the current road levy which is set at a rate of $2 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further four years in order to continue to pay for fire protection services road maintenance costs in the township.[1]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall the expired previous voted increases in the tax limitations imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution in Merrill Township, of 2 mills ($2.00 per $1,000.00 of taxable value), reduced to 1.9644 mills ($1.9644 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed at 1.9644 mills ($1.9644 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) and levied for 4 years, 2013 through 2016 inclusive, for roads, raising an estimated $42,553.00 in the first year the millage is levied?[2]
