This measure sought to renew the current school levy which was set at a rate of $.58 per $100 of assessed property value for a further five years in order to continue to pay for operational costs in the school district area.[5]

The question on the ballot:

Shall a levy renewing an existing levy be imposed by the Miami Trace Local School District, for the purpose of avoiding an operating deficit in the sum of $2,400,000 per year, and a levy of taxes to be made outside of the ten-mill limitation estimated by the county auditor to average five and eight-tenths (5.8) mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to fifty-eight cents ($0.58) for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for a period of five (5) years, commencing in 2012, first due in calendar year 2013?
