Mike Bishop has been a Republican member of the Michigan Senate since 2002. Bishop was re-elected in November of 2006 with his term expiring in 2010. Bishop is term limited in 2010. Bishop currently is the Majority Leader of the Michigan Senate a role he served since 2006 and served as the Assistant Majority Leader from 2004 to 2006. Bishop also served two terms in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003.

Bishop graduated from Michigan with his Bachelor's degree in 1989 and his Juris Doctor degree from Michigan State-Detroit Mercy Law in 1993. Bishop is also a Real Estate Broker and a practicing Attorney when the legislature is not in session.

Personal

Michael is married to Cristina Bishop. They have three children and reside in Rochester, Michigan.
