Michael Consedine is the current Pennsylvania Commissioner of Insurance. He was appointed to the position in January 2011 by Governor Tom Corbett (R).[1]


An attorney by trade, Consedine focused on regulatory and corporate matters involving insurance entities and consumers. He was department counsel for the Pennsylvania Insurance Department from 1995-1999. From 1999 to January 2011 he was with the firm of Saul Ewing LLP where he served as Partner and Vice-Chair of the firm's Insurance Practice Group.[2]

He began his career worked at the U.S. Consulate in Amsterdam, Netherlands. From 1993 to 1995 he was an associate with Dewey & LeBoeuf.[3]
