Dembrow holds a MA in Comparative Literature from the University of Indiana. He is a Professor of English at Portland Community College and a member of the Oregon State Board of Education.
Dembrow and his wife, Kiki, have two children, Nikolai and Tatyana.[1]

Dembrow won re-election in the 2012 election for Oregon House of Representatives District 45. Dembrow was unopposed in the May 15 Democratic primary and defeated Anne Marie Gurney (R) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]

Dembrow won re-election to the 45th District Seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition but was challenged by Anne Marie Gurney in the general election which took place on November 2, 2010.[4]
