Doherty served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2003-2009.
Biography
Doherty received a B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1985. He later received his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1993. Doherty served as director of the Warren County Board of Freeholders from 2002-2003, and was Deputy Director from 2001-2002.[1] He is currently a patent attorney with Doherty and Charney LLC. Doherty served in the U.S. Army from 1985 to 1989 and the U.S. Army Reserves from 1989 to 1993.

Doherty was running for U.S. Senate in 2012,[3] but has withdrawn and endorsed Joe Kyrillos for the Republican nomination.[4]

Doherty won re-election to the District 23 State Senate seat in 2011. He ran unopposed in the June 7 Republican primary. Doherty defeated John Graf (D) and Daniel Seyler (I) in the general election which took place on November 8, 2011. [5]
