Biography
After earning his J.D. from St. Mary's University, McCaul went into private practice as a lawyer.[3] He was also Chief of Counter Terrorism and National Security to the U.S. Attorney's office in Texas. From 1998-2002, McCaul was appointed Deputy Attorney General under then-Attorney General John Cornyn.[4]

Fiscal Cliff
McCaul voted against the fiscal cliff compromise bill, which made permanent most of the Bush tax cuts originally passed in 2001 and 2003 while also raising tax rates on the highest income levels.
