Middletown Public Library Tax Measure D (November 2009)
There was a Middletown Public Library Tax Measure D on the November 3 ballot in Des Moines County for voters in Middletown.
The measure was approved.[1]
This measure established a tax that would help fund, along with the general fund, the city library services. The tax will take affect June of 2010 and has no year limit on it.[2]
The ballot read:
"Shall the City of Middletown , Iowa, be allowed to establish a library tax levy, not to exceed the maximum amount as allowed by the Code of Iowa 384.12(21)? The money raised with this tax levy, along with General Fund money, will be used to pay the cost of providing library services to Middletown residents. The tax shall become effective with the 2010-2011 fiscal year taxes (July 1, 2010), and continue until repealed"[3]
