This measure sought to renew the current mosquito control levy which is set at a rate of $.50 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further four years in order to pay for mosquito abatement programs in the county.[2]

Shall the previously voted increase in the limitation on the total amount of general ad valorem taxes which may be imposed for all purposes upon real and personal property in Midland County to provide mosquito abatement, which last resulted n a levy of up to 0.42 Mill ($0.42 per $1000) of taxable valuation, be renewed and increased for a levy up to 0.50 Mill ($0.50 per $1000) of taxable valuation as finally equalized during the years 2013-2016, both inclusive, as authorized in Article 9, § 6 of the Michigan Constitution of 1963, as amended, for the purpose of continuing the Midland County Mosquito Abatement program to reduce and control the mosquito population in Midland County, which if approved and levied in its entirety is estimated to raise $1,736,586 in the first year of levy?
