Michael D. Bishop is a 2014 Republican candidate seeking election to the U.S. House to represent the 8th Congressional District of Michigan.[1]

Bishop was previously a Republican member and Majority Leader of the Michigan State Senate, representing the state's 12 Senate District, which encompassed the Eastern Detroit suburbs of Auburn Hills, Pontiac, Rochester and Rochester Hills. Due to Michigan term limits, Senator Bishop did not run for re-election in the Michigan State Senate elections of 2010. [2]

On February 18, 2009, he announced his candidacy for the statewide office of attorney general, the seat vacated by Mike Cox, who was barred by state term limit laws from running for a third consecutive term in office.[3]

Bishop is running in the 2014 election for the U.S. House to represent Michigan's 8th District. Bishop won the Republican nomination in the primary against Tom McMillin on August 5, 2014. The general election takes place November 4, 2014.
