Mike Fortner is a Republican member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing District 49 since 2013. He represented District 95 from 2007 to 2013. He is also on the Winfield Township Republicanism Committee, is Mayor of West Chicago, and a Precinct Committeeman.

Fortner is a Professor at Northern Illinois University, and a Researcher at Fermilab National Laboratory.

He is a member of the Education Reform Task Force, Metropolitan Mayors' Caucus, Director of Transportation Policy with the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, and Co-Chair of the STAR Line Commuter Rail Task Force.[1]

Fortner won re-election in the 2012 election for Illinois House of Representatives District 49. Fortner was unopposed in the March 20 Republican primary and was unopposed in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3][4]

Fortner won re-election to the 95th District seat against Democrat Maria Owens. He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on February 2nd. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[5]
