Mike Teets was a Republican candidate for West Virginia Commissioner of Agriculture in the 2012 elections.

Biography

Teets and his son Matthew are partners in Teets Farms, which Mike began in 1973. He served on the Hardy County Commission for 15 years and is treasurer of the Hardy County Rural Development Authority.[1]

Teets was running for West Virginia Commissioner of Agriculture in 2012. He was running unopposed in the Republican primary on May 8, but withdrew form the race in early February, citing personal reasons.[2] Sally Shepherd, Joe Messineo, Steve Miller, Bob Tabb and Walt Helmick are running for the Democratic nomination.

Incumbent Gus Douglass (D) is not running for re-election.

Personal

Teets and his wife, Joyce Godlove, have two children and six grandchildren.[1]
