Mike Shanks changed his legal name to Mike the Mover, as he runs a household-moving company based in Seattle and Edmonds. He has run for various state and federal offices over the past several decades.[1]

Mike the Mover ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. Senate, representing Washington. He was seeking the nomination as a Republican and faced incumbent Maria Cantwell (D), Timmy Wilson (D), Michael Baumgartner (R), Art Coday (R), Chuck Jackson (R), Glen Stockwell (R), and Will Baker (Reform Party) in the August 7 primary. The top two vote-getters in the primary, regardless of party, will be on the general election ballot.[2] He was defeated in the primary.[3]
