A Mill Valley School District, Measure C bond proposition was on the November 3, 2009 ballot in Marin County for voters in the Mill Valley School District, where it was approved.[1]
Voters were asked to approve a $59.8 million bond package. Measure C will add a tax of $20 to $30 per $100,000 assessed property-tax value over the next 25 years.[2]
The question on the ballot was, "To reconstruct and modernize Mill Valley elementary and middle schools, including installing and constructing fire safety, emergency communications, seismic and disabled access improvements; providing sufficient space for students; and repairing or replacing outdated plumbing, electrical and other vital systems and facilities, shall the Mill Valley School District be authorized to issue $59,800,000 in bonds for Phase 1 of the approved Facilities Master Plan, and establish a Citizens’ Oversight Committee to ensure all expenditures are made according to the plan?"
Specifics
The construction bonds sought in Measure C would primarily go to rebuild and expand Edna Maguire Elementary School.[2]
Supporters
- The Marin Independent Journal's editorial board recommended to its readers that they vote "yes" on Measure C. They say, "Mill Valley's fine schools are attracting more young families. Its aging schools are running out of space. The district needs to build for the present and the future."[2]
