Milwaukee County Board Reduction Questions, 12 (April 2012)
Twelve municipalities in Milwaukee County voiced their opinion on the Milwaukee County Board Reduction Questions in the April 3, 2012 election.
All twelve municipalities approved both questions.[1]
These questions showed that the voters were in favor of the County Board being reduced to nine members and the Board Member position being made part time, with the appropriate reduction in salary. No changes were implemented by these questions directly as they were advisory only, but local officials noted that this seemed the only way to get the message to county officials that residents want the board to be reduced in number. Residents of Bayside, Brown Deer, Cudahy, Fox Point, Franklin, Greendale, Greenfield, Hales Corners, River Hills, Shorewood, West Milwaukee and Whitefish showed their support of these changes.[2]
Text of measure
The question on the ballot:
| Question 1: Do you support compensating the position of Milwaukee County supervisor at a level that reflects the position being considered part-time in nature?
Question 2: Shall the size of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors be reduced from the current number of 18 supervisors to nine supervisors?[3] |
