U.S. Congressman John Shadegg, of Arizona, predicted on January 13 that in 2010, health care amendments that resist federal government health care mandates will be on the ballot in 22 states, including Arizona, Indiana, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota and Wyoming. The prediction came in an appearance on Fox News, where Shadegg appeared to announce that he and Steve Forbes are endorsing the Arizona Health Insurance Reform Amendment.[1]
Shadegg said, "We in Arizona believe that health care is an intensely personal matter and that no law should be able to stop anyone in this country — certainly not in this state — from spending their own money to buy the health care services that they want, and no one should be compelled to spend their money on health care services they don't want."[1]
Steve Forbes said, "Allowing individuals to make their own choice is the essence of freedom. You don't have to buy something if you don't wish to buy it. You should have those choices. This amendment would make that possible."[1]
