The Commissioner of Management and Budget is a state executive position in the Minnesota state government. The commissioner is the state's controller and chief accounting and financial officer.

16A.01, Subdivision 1 of the Minnesota Statutes addresses the office of the commissioner:[2]

The commissioner of management and budget manages the Department of Management and Budget, which may also be known as Minnesota Management and Budget.

Appointments

Per 15.06 of the Minnesota Statutes, the governor appoints the Commissioner of Management and Budget with the consent of the Senate. The commissioner serves at the pleasure of the governor. His or her term expires at the end of the governor's term or if the governor vacates office.[3]

Duties

The officer acts as head of the Office of Management and Budget, which provides a number of financial services to the state including accounting, payroll and financial reporting.[4]
