This measure was defeated

  • YES 2,114
  • NO 3,444 Defeatedd[1]

This measure sought to allow collective bargaining by the firefighters of the city. Firefighters of the city brought this measure by petition to be voted on, they wanted more power in deciding how their department is run by City Hall. City officials felt that they gave the firefighters enough power over decisions and felt that this measure was only a scare tactic and would have just increase taxes for local residents. Firefighters though felt that they were not getting the equipment they needed and hoped to be able to have a stronger say in getting new equipment for the stations.[2]
