Mississippi House Legislative Services is a non-partisan legislative service agency that is dedicated to serving the members of the Mississippi House of Representatives.

Governance

House Legislative Services is led by a Director who oversees the day to day operations of the agency. The agency has eight attorneys, a general secretary, three legal secretaries, and numerous legal proofreaders on staff[1].

House Legislative Services is responsible for proividing all bill drafting to members of the Mississippi House of Representatives[1].

All legal staff for standing committees in the Mississippi House of Representatives is provided by House Legislative Services. Each attorney is responsible for up to four committees[1].

Attorneys for House Legislative Services provides all legal advice and review on legislative matters[1].

Statute enrollment

House Legislative Services is responsible for engrossing and enrolling all new statutes into the Mississippi Code[1].
