Missouri Save Our Secret Ballot (2010)

Save Our Secret Ballot is an initiative that would protect the right to secret ballots in federal, state, and union representation elections. Its supporters hope to qualify it for the November 2010 ballot in Missouri.
The same initiative has been filed in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah. Currently, legislation, also known as the Employee Free Choice Act, is pending before the United States Congress that would remove that requirement from federal law.
Ballot summary
The official ballot title is (certified March 25, 2009):[1]
Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended to:
- restate the existing statutory guarantee of a secret ballot in federal, state, and local elections; and
- change the current law relating to employees organizing for union or other representation by eliminating the ability of employees to use the existing sign up process to choose such representation and only allowing a secret ballot election?
Fiscal impact
According to the secretary of state's office the ballot measure is estimated to have "no costs or savings to state or local governmental entities."
