Monroe Township Road Levy Renewal (August 2012)

A Monroe Township Road Levy Renewal measure was on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the township of Monroe, which is in Newaygo County.

This measure seeks to renew the current road levy which is set at a rate of $1 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further four years in order to continue to pay for road maintenance and improvement costs in the township.[1]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall the previous voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution on general ad valorem taxes within Monroe Township be renewed at (1) mill ($1.00 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) for the period of 2013 through 2016 inclusive for the purpose of providing Maintenance, improvement and repair of roads located within Monroe Township and shall the Township levy such renewal in millage for said purpose, thereby, raising in the first year an estimated $12,107.52?[2]
