Montana State Representative files for U.S. House seat

Representative Franke Wilmer, who has filed to run for U.S. House in 2012.

HELENA, Montana: State Representative Franke Wilmer (D) filed for the U.S. House seat on Wednesday, committing to fight for giving people a fair chance to achieve the American dream. She is one of seven candidates currently seeking the Democratic nomination for the open U.S. House seat.^[1]

Wilmer said that if elected, she would continue working for veterans, continue to support abortion rights, protect tribal sovereignty for Native Americans, and support peace and diplomacy. She said she's the only union member among the seven House candidates and helped organize the forming of a faculty union at Montana State University.^[1]

Wilmer was first elected to the Montana House of Representatives in 2006, winning re-election in 2008 and 2010. She works as a political science professor at Montana State University.
