Nine state executive positions were up for election in 2012 in the state of Montana. The primary election was held on June 5, 2012 followed by a general election on November 6, 2012.

Note: With unofficial results showing Juneau leading Welch by some 1,600 votes, Welch refused to concede. She officially asked for a recount on December 3.[1][2][3] However, after it was ordered by a judge, Welch abandoned the recount due to the cost.[4]
