Two down ballot state executive positions are up for election in the state of Montana in 2014. The two down ballot seats up for election in 2014 were on the Montana Public Service Commission. The general election took place November 4, 2014. Brad Johnson and Travis Kavulla won election to the commission.

Montana is one of 14 states that uses an open primary system, in which registered voters do not have to be members of a party to vote in that party's primary.[1][2][3]

Board composition before the election

Every seat on the Public Service Commission was held by a Republican member heading into the 2014 election. The board had three Republicans and two Democrats until the 2012 elections, when Roger Koopman and Bob Lake defeated Democratic incumbents in Districts 3 and 4.[4]
