Montrio Belton (b. Abbeville, South Carolina) is a Democratic candidate for South Carolina Superintendent of Education in the 2014 elections.


Following his graduation from high school, Belton joined the United States Army Reserves. He went on to earn his bachelor's, master's and doctorate, and anticipates graduating from law school in 2015.

He has worked as a teacher, coach, high school assistant principal, middle school principal and South Carolina's Director of School Transformation. Belton founded the Urban and Rural Educational Institute (UREI).[1]

Belton is running for election to the office of South Carolina Superintendent of Education. Belton is seeking the Democratic nomination in the primary.[2] The general election takes place November 4, 2014.
