Biography
Shifren earned his BA in German Language and Literature from UCSB in 1985. He went on to study abroad at Geothe Institute and the University of Goettingen in Germany 1982.
Shifren worked as a Los Angeles County Beach lifeguard at various beaches from 1973 to 1984. In 1991 he began teaching Spanish at LAUSD. He then received a BA from the University of California in Santa Barbara in Spanish and German Literature.
Elections
2012
Shifren ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. Senate, representing California. He was defeated in the June 5 open primary.[1][2]
2010

Shifren ran for election to District 26 of the California State Senate in 2010. He was defeated in the November 2 general election by incumbent Democrat Curren De Mille Price.[3]
