Orrock was a member of the Governor's Action Group on the Accessibility and Affordability of Health Insurance. She served in the Georgia State House of Representatives from 1986 to 2006. During her time in the House she served in the following positions: Minority Caucus Vice Chair, Speaker's Policy Committee member, Majority Whip, Governor's Floor Leader, and Assistant Floor Leader for Governor Zell Miller from 1992 to 1996.
Orrock was a Legal Secretary for Emory Legal Aid from 1969 to 1971. She worked in Quality Control for Nabisco Incorporated from 1971 to 1987. She then worked as Executive Director for the Fund for Southern Communities Foundation from 1987 to 1993. From 1993 to 1997 she worked as a Consultant. She has been Program Director for Women's Action for New Directions since 1997.
Orrock earned her BA in English from the University of Virginia in 1965.

No Republican candidate filed to run for this seat. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2] Orrock ran unopposed in the general election.[3]
