Naomi D. Jakobsson (b. September 28, 1941) is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing District 103 since 2003. District 103 encompasses Urbana and Champaign, Illinois.

Jakobsson has been a Recorder for Champaign County, and Executive Director of the University Youth Women's Christian Association.

She is a member of the Champaign County Habitat for Humanity Board, Illinois Association of County Clerks and Recorders, and International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers.[1]

  • The State Budget
Excerpt: "Nobody likes the Illinois state budget this year. The recession decimated tax revenues. Attempts to enhance revenues through a tax increase, although supported by Naomi, have stalled. As a consequence state services have been cut, and service providers have received payment months late. Throughout this period Naomi has worked hard to mitigate the effects of this situation on the 103rd district."
  • Enabling Health and Dental Care
Excerpt: "Naomi learned that dentists who were willing to donate free dental care to Medicaid-eligible individuals were required to go through the same burdensome paperwork as if they were to be reimbursed for the service. So she introduced and passed HB 5859 to remove the requirement. ...Naomi Jakobsson will continue to work for common sense streamlining of government, so that taxpayers get full value of services for the tax dollar, and the government will get out of the way of citizens who want to help each other."
  • Foster Care Stipends
Excerpt: "Naomi learned that Illinois courts were considering expense stipends from the state to foster parents as family income. So she introduced and passed HB 4684 which stipulates that such stipends are for the support of the child only and are not to be counted as general family income. Naomi Jakobsson will continue to work for fair treatment of all families in Illinois."
  • Cadmium in Children’s Jewelry
Excerpt: "Naomi learned that much childrens’ jewelry, especially imported from China, contained dangerously high levels of cadmium, a known carcinogen. So she introduced and passed HB 5040 which reduces allowable cadmium levels in childrens’ jewelry sold in Illinois to a level deemed safe by accepted public health standards. Naomi Jakobsson will continue to work for the safety of families and children in Illinois."
  • Civil Rights
Excerpt: "Naomi introduced and passed HB 898 and and HB 899 to provide to University employees the same rights as all citizens, specifically to attend political events in any public place and to communicate with their elected officials without oversight from their employer, in this case the University of Illinois. Naomi will continue to stand up for the civil rights of all residents of the 103rd district and throughout Illinois."

Jakobsson won re-election in the 2012 election for Illinois House of Representatives District 103. Jakobsson was unopposed in the March 20 Democratic primary and defeated Robert Meister (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[3][4][5]

Jakobsson won re-election to the 103rd District seat against Republican Norman E. Davis. She ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on February 2nd. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[7]

On November 4, 2008, Democrat Naomi Jakobsson won re-election to the Illinois House of Representatives District 103 receiving 28,252 votes, ahead of Republican Frank Calabrese who received 11,132 votes.[8]
