Nebraska Investment of Public Endowment Funds, Amendment 1 (May 2008)
The Nebraska Investment of Public Endowment Funds, also known as Amendment 1, was a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment which was on the May 13, 2008 statewide primary election ballot, where it was approved.
The amendment authorizes the Legislature to permit certain cities to invest public endowment funds in the same manner as would a prudent investor. The cities, acting with care, skill and diligence, would be responsible to act exclusively to protect and benefit the public endowment investments subject to limitations as the Legislature may provide.
