Nebraska's Proposed Amendment 1, or Investment of Public Funds is a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment that appeared on the May 13, 2008 statewide primary election ballot.
It authorizes the Legislature to permit certain cities to invest public endowment funds in the same manner as would a prudent investor. The cities, acting with care, skill and diligence, would be responsible to act exclusively to protect and benefit the public endowment investments subject to limitations as the Legislature may provide. This measure passed with 58% of voters in agreement.
