will not appear on a ballot

The Nebraska Recall Amendment did not appear on the November 2, 2010 ballot in the state of Nebraska. The measure would have allowed residents in the state to recall an official by obtaining at least 30 percent as many signatures as the number of votes cast for that particular local or state official in the previous election. The petitions were being circulated by The Western Nebraska Tea Party and the Nebraska 912 Freedom Project.[1]

Current Nebraska law lets residents recall local elected officials, however, does not permit the recall of state or federal officials.

Path to the ballot

Petitioners had until the July 2, 2010 petition drive deadline to collect approximately 117,000 signatures of registered Nebraska voters to get the measure on the November ballot, since the measure was a proposed constitutional amendment. However, initiative organizers stated that they would not have enough signatures to place the measure on the ballot before the deadline.[2]
