Elections for the office of Nevada State Assembly will consist of a primary election on June 10, 2014, and a general election on November 4, 2014. The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 14, 2014.

To be eligible to serve in the Nevada State Assembly, a candidate must be:[1]

  • 21 years old at the time of the election
  • A citizen resident of the State of Nevada for one year preceding this election
  • A resident of the district for a period of 30 days next preceding closing date for filing as a candidate

Competitiveness

In 16 (38.1%) of the 42 assembly seats up for election in 2014, there is only one major party candidate running for election. A total of 8 Democrats and 8 Republicans are guaranteed election in November barring unforeseen circumstances.

Two major party candidates will face off in the general election in 26 (61.9%) of the 42 districts up for election. Five of those seats held competitive elections in 2012 with a margin of victory ranging from zero to five percent. Four other elections were mildly competitive, with a margin of victory of five to ten percent. Those districts are:
