The head of the department shall be the insurance commissioner who is charged with the rights, powers, and duties pertaining to the enforcement and execution of the insurance laws of this state. |

Per Title XXXVII, Chapter 400, Section 400-A:3 of the New Hampshire Statutes, the governor, with consultation from council, appoints the Commissioner of Insurance to a five-year term.[1]
