Per Title XXXVII, Chapter 400, Section 400-A:3:
The head of the department shall be the insurance commissioner who is charged with the rights, powers, and duties pertaining to the enforcement and execution of the insurance laws of this state.
Per Title XXXVII, Chapter 400, Section 400-A:3 of the New Hampshire Statutes, "Vacancies in the office of the insurance commissioner shall be filled for the unexpired term of such office" by the governor, with consultation from council.
The Commissioner oversees the Insurance Department and is responsible for enforcing and executing the insurance laws of the state.
The budget for administration of the Commissioner of Insurance's office in Fiscal Year 2013 was $9,921,875.
