Mission statement
The primary responsibility of the Office of Legislative Services is to assist lawmakers in meeting the challenges and demands of their elective office by providing objective, accurate and timely information to assist in the development of sound public policy[1].
Governance
The Office of Legislative Services is led by an Executive Director who oversees the day to day operations of the agency[2].
Services offered
Bill drafting
The Office of Legislative Services provides all bill and amendment drafting services for members of the New Hampshire General Court. All bill drafts are kept confidential unless a legislator requests to make a draft public[3].
Legal services
The legal services staff in addition to bill drafting is responsible for revising and proofreading all additions and supplements to the New Hampshire Code[3].
Research services
Staff in the Office of Legislative Services provide all necessary research for legislators and their staff including presentations for committee hearings and short and long-term studies. All research that is conducted by OLS staff is done in a non-partisan matter[4].
