New Jersey borders New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware and the Atlantic Ocean. New Jersey’s Constitution of 1947 established the government of New Jersey. It comprises three branches: the executive, headed by the Governor of New Jersey; the legislative (consisting of the bicameral New Jersey State Legislature, consisting of the General Assembly and Senate); and judicial, headed by the New Jersey Supreme Court.

New Jersey has two members of the U.S. Senate, a total of 12 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, 80 members of the New Jersey General Assembly and 40 members of the New Jersey State Senate.
