New Mexico Amendment 2 permitted school districts to incur debt without an election, for the purpose of lease-purchase agreements for educational technology equipment. It was on the November 5, 1996 election ballot in New Mexico, where it passed.

Amendment 2 was a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment amending the New Mexico Constitution. It was one of seven such measures on the 1996 ballot in the state. All of them passed.

  • Yes: 238,126 (51%)
  • No: 230,850 (49%)
