The Superintendent oversees the Division of Insurance within the Public Regulation Commission, whose stated mission is "to provide convenient access to consumers to reliable insurance products which are underwritten by dependable and financially sound companies."[1]
On July 1, 2013, the Insurance Division will become the Office of Superintendent of Insurance, an independent state agency.[2]
