New Paris Village Income Tax Implementation (November 2011)
This measure sought to implement an income tax in the village. The income tax would be set at a rate of 1 percent. Village officials had approved the tax, but residents were able to petition and obtain the necessary signatures to force the issue to a vote. Village officials note that the income tax is needed because of increased state cuts and no other means of income for the village. The tax would raise an estimated $100,000 a year for village needs.
