No hope for a raise in New York's minimum wage

ALBANY, New York: The minimum wage in the state of New York is - and will remain - $7.25 per hour. Though the New York State Assembly is scheduled to vote today on a bill that would raise the minimum wage to $8.25, Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos has already indicated the bill will not reach the floor of the Senate for a vote.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo is supportive of an increase in the minimum wage, but hasn't been optimistic about this bill's chance of passing before the end of the legislative session on June 21. Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver is more hopeful, noting "I had a conversation with the governor today about it - he's supportive. He's trying to figure out if there is some kind of deal to be made."[1]
