No more straight party ticket option in Missouri

For the first time in Missouri history, voters will not have the option to cast a straight-party ticket in this election. Missouri lawmakers have done away with this option, and while it may take voters longer at the polls, supporters say that is well outweighed by the benefits.[1]
Green County Clerk Richard Struckhoff stated, “I think it causes people, number one, to look at every race. There might be names they would see that they would not see under the old one-punch plan or mark plan. There could be candidates they want to vote for even though he or she might be from another party.”
He also said the measure will help with disputed ballots, to do test counts to check the machines are working correctly, and make it easier to do any manual recounts that could be necessary for close races.
