The deadline for filing signatures to make the November 4 ballot in North Dakota was midnight on Tuesday, August 5.

- Through 2006, a total of 170 citizen-initiated ballot propositions had appeared on North Dakota's ballot since the beginning of the process in 1918. Of those, 78 passed and 92 failed.
- With three initiatives on the 2008 ballot, the historical total of North Dakota's citizen initiatives increased to 173.
