North Dakota legislative referrals center around education, taxes and health care
BISMARK, North Dakota: Just like citizen initiatives, legislators are already filing proposals for the 2012 statewide ballot. A total of three proposals have been filed that call for amending the state constitution but tackle an array of topics. Education, taxes and health care are included.
In 2010 voters cast their ballots on only two measures; one of which was a legislatively referred measure.
Potential legislative referrals include:
|Education Reserve Fund Amendment||Education||Would reserve earnings from the state's "foundation aid stabilization fund" for annual scholarships|
|Poll Tax Amendment||Admin of gov't||Would revoke the authority for the poll tax and remove the offensive language|
|Healthcare Amendment||Healthcare||Would allow residents to choose their health care insurance plans|
