Northwest School District Levy Increase (November 2011)
This measure was defeated
- YES 9,834 (38.73%)
- NO 15,554 (61.27%)
This measure sought to increase the current property tax by a rate of 5.07 mills, 3.5 mills going towards permanent operational costs and the remaining 1.4 mills towards a bond set at $44 million. The levy increase would have been in place for a period of five years. School officials noted that even if the levy increase had been approved, cuts would still have to be made as the budget deficit would not be covered with the additional money. While some residents noted that the district could make further cuts without asking for more money, other school officials stated that items have already been cut and cutting more would en up costing the students of the schools.
