Ohio Initiated Issue 1, 30-Day Voter Eligibility Act (1977)

Ohio Initiated Issue 1 was on the November 8, 1977 ballot in Ohio as an initiated constitutional amendment, where it was approved with 61.6% of the vote.
Issue 1 amended Section 1 of Article V of the Ohio Constitution so that a person is eligible to vote if he or she has been registered to vote for at least thirty days. Issue 1 also says that electors who fail to vote at least once in four consecutive years must re-register to vote before they can again cast a ballot.
