This measure was defeated

  • YES 16,076 (43.86%)
  • NO 20,577 (56.14%)Defeatedd[1]

This measure sought to implement a half cent sales tax throughout the county for ten years in order to help the schools within the county upgrade equipment and technology in their classrooms. Renovations to older buildings and helping pay off debts would have also beeb projects funded by the sales tax if approved.[2]

Opponents to the measure saw raising taxes as the wrong solution at the wrong time. Noting that other cuts could be made in the county to find money to better support the schools instead of raising taxes.[3]
